Mission in a Pluralistic World - Mr. K. Laltlankima

Posted on: 2007-08-22 16:43:06 There is no denying to the fact that we live in a pluralistic world. Even in missiological discussion today, this has become an almost taken-for-granted presupposition. Emilio Castro in his lecture at Boston University in 1985 said, “This pluralism is not a new reality for many Christians who for centuries—and still today—are daily involved in relations of trust and friendship—and also conflict—with neighbours who are motivated by diverse religious convictions.”

National Level Workshop on “Global Media Monitoring Project”

The Student Christian Movement of India organized a National level Workshop on ‘Global Media Monitoring Project’ from 16th to 18th October 2009 at SCM Programme Center, Bangalore. The workshop was organized mainly to train participants on how to participate in the 4th Global Media Monitoring Project (GMMP) day, which will happen on 10th of November 2009. This GMMP is the largest research and advocacy initiative in the world on changing the representation of women in the world’s media. It is unique because it involves participants ranging from grassroots community organizations to university students and researchers to media practitioners and participates on a voluntary basis. This project is to analyze media and how to collect data while studying the representation of men and women in the media. 40 students and senior friends from different parts of India representing their units and colleges have participated in this workshop. The keynote address was delivered by Prof. Dr. Samuel Meshack, the Chairperson of WACC-Asia Region (World Association of Christian Communication) and the Principal of Gurukul Lutheran Theological College, Chennai. Ms. Ammu Joseph, the National Co-ordinator of GMMP introduced GMMP and the monitoring tools. This workshop has empowered and encouraged the students and senior friends to actively and effectively participate in the 4th GMMP in their own units.
